why install firefox from a disc, just download the install file from mozilla and have it all done for you. If this was a firefox on ubuntu (or whatever) problem deleting the users .mozilla directory might help. Though I don't like to suggest it you could try downloading the latest version of IE, might make a difference if the version you have is completely buggered (that's a technical term by the way!) which is what some message about runtime might imply.
