You can still do it from a landline. Some are offering 0870 numbers to do the same thing (or 0845, etc.)
These days, it's so cheap to call most countries, I'm not sure it's worth it....
Although I just got some spam (disguised 419) wanting me to call a number that started: +882 135 ... This is a satellite phone and costs £3 a minute to call. Really not sure why they wanted me to call that number as it's not revenue generating for anyone but the satellite operator...
