I fondly remember my dad sitting up until the early hours of the morning typing in a program on our old Atari 65XE and then accidentally typing the wrong command and wiping the lot. I hear the air was rather blue after that. I didn't really dabble with programming until I got a CPC464, the manual that came with the CPC was kind of my programming bible at the time, it was tought me how to program in basic (I'd played around with Basic before that but the CPC was what got me really interested). My only regret is that I didn't learn assembler. I did try and get my head around assembler on the Atari ST but just didn't get it. I also tried some assembler tutorials on a CPC emulator but still, couldn't get my head around it. I guess it's a bit late now, unless that is I could find a good book and get a physical machine up and running (I might have to dig out the VIC 20 and have a play with that, assuming I can get hold of a tape recorder for it).
