By the way if you do reinstall, you may find it easier to do a manual partition in the install program to setup your other drives. I can't remember if you can setup RAID on the Live CD when installing a Desktop but you could certainly setup each drive in your system as Gordon suggested and it means you don't have to mess around editing the fstab (not a hard job really but if you can get away without having to do it then it may make life a bit easier). You could also then put the swap partition on another drive too, maybe the 5th spare drive, with the rest of the 5th drive partitioned for future use? (I'm thinking maybe a local cache of wikipedia, or maybe you could use it for web space so the students could create their own internal intranet or something or other).
