I've got a week before I ship this box, so I'll make one partition ext4 and have a a play with it! However I used XFS in the past, but got bitten with file system corruptions and losses after crashes and "RTFM" type replies from the XFS mailling list. That an lack of a good fsck for it caused me to un-check it from my kernel compile and wave it goodbye. This was a few years ago, however once bitten...
