-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi I am using ubuntu 8.10 with a geforce 4 graphics card, (this uses an older driver) I have just obtained a geforce 6200 card, what I want to do, is replace the old geforce 4 with the geforce 6200 is it a simple case of turning off computer and unplugging it, then replacing the cards, and then turning the computer on, booting. In theory x should boot auto detect the card, and set up everything to suit, or is there some prep work to do first, for example set the graphics driver in xorg to nv, I have had problems before if the installed card is not listed in the xorg config file, as in xbombs out to a terminal and I don't have x for a while until its fixed. i would guess that ubuntu would not be as silly and would have safeguard to make this sort of upgrade almost as easy as it is under Windows. anything else I should consider, thanks Paul - -- Paul Sutton www.zleap.net Support Open and ISO standard file formats ISO 26300 odf http://www.odfalliance.org Next Linux User Group meet :Saturday ** June 6th ** : 3pm, Shoreline Cafe Paignton -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkoO47IACgkQaggq1k2FJq0JvgCfT9fuJz30NfKKUazcG9msCveC 7jMAnRCPVNGYmmQ0dDkI1znFmh2/gqQm =MqqE -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
