Who wants to meet up in plymouth for an evening of geeky conversations and delicious beverages? Since pasty standards is going well in truro, we've decided to steal the idea and have a reasonably regular geek meetup in plymouth. If you haven't already heard of them and are in cornwall, check http://pastystandards.co.uk and @pastystandards on twitter. We'll be meeting at 8pm on thursday the 16th of april in the bank bar in the centre of plymouth (behind the theatre royale, next to the clock thing). The idea behind pub/pasty standards is that the best part of a conference is when everyone meets up at the pub afterwards and the interesting conversations happens, about ideas they've had, the cool new technologies coming out and bitching about vista and how the silly things clients make us put up with. Part of it is a plan to foster a better geek community in devon- DCLUG is quite active and termisoc does fun stuff in the university, but compared with the activity in plaes like London, Bournemouth and Leeds, its pretty quiet down here. Theres tons of geeks and techies around, but most of them don't know the rest of them exist, so not much happens... *cough*barcamp plymouth*cough*...somday Anyone caught not attending will be hunted down and have vista installed on their boxen! you can follow @plymouthgeeks on twitter or email me at this address if you want to know more, give suggestions or just hurl abuse...
