2009/3/13 Rob Beard <rob@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>: > I've just seen this on The Register... > http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/03/13/review_networking_solwise_mobile_router/ > I use my mobile phone (Nokia N82) to do something similar, running some software called joikuspot on it. The phone connects to the internet via 3G and shares that out over wifi to the surrounding area. I use it each day on the train to and from work. It means I can connect any device that has wifi to the internet very easily by connecting to the access point. It supports connections from multiple machines just fine. In fact up until I enabled WEP on it, a few random people on the train discovered it and used it :) Now I have it WEP secured (joikuspot doesn't support WPA at the moment) I have a nice relatively secure access point. The fact that it's "only" WEP isn't an issue for me given I'm on a train for only an hour so people wouldn't get long to hack it. Plus I can see on the phone when people connect, so can easily boot them off and change the key.
