One marketing comment from the Exwick Comm Centre chairman troubled me. He commented Ubuntu didn't need marketing because it is free. Of course it is competing with Microsoft who allegedly recently spent so much on marketing one product they lost money on it because of the marketing spend alone. But I don't think most folks realise just how big their marketing effort is (and needs to be). Windows XP marketing budget $500 million for the launch. Do the maths - they are likely spending more on marketing than development - makes it look like a ponzi scheme almost. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
