It's not just that reason I'm leaving Enta, I've had no end of problems these past 2 months or so, speeds have been regularly around 100KB/sec and at most around 400KB/sec. Not to mention at the moment I'm on the Office 45 connection. When I signed up with Enta I found that I would make use of the slightly higher upload speeds but now I'm finding I don't really need it (not to mention when I was working at GCap they paid an allowance of £16 a month towards the broadband connection). O2 are offering up to 8Mbit/sec for about £22 a month which works out about £7 a month cheaper plus if you're an O2 customer you can get a discount of about £4.50 on top of that as long as you top up £10 every 3 months. As my mum is an O2 customer and tops up £10 a month and doesn't have broadband (or even a computer) she's letting me use her number for the discount so it'll work out that I'll be saving about £10 a month which will pay for a mobile broadband modem for when I'm out and about. > What I do like about Enta is that they're reasonably clear about their > network usage - and fully clear about the limits, caps, etc. unlike some > ISPs who have rather "wooly" "Acceptable Use" policys ... > > I must admit, I did think this was fair, I was able to monitor my usage and make sure I didn't go over the limits (well apart from one occasion when I went WAY over and had to spend about £50, that was my own fault for not keeping an eye on it :-). What I wouldn't like is a Virgin style limit where if you download more than a few GB during certain times of the day, your connection is throttled down to around 25% of the connection speed. There is some speculation though that Enta are doing this to some customers at the moment on the Think Broadband forums although I haven't personally seen any indication of this, I've found speeds are fairly constant no matter if I'm running at 100KB/sec or 600KB/sec, it doesn't seem to go drastically down. > Saying that, they've just cut-off a customer of mine because they didn't > get the direct debit - because the customer changed company names, sent in > a DD from the new company, but they didn't update their systems > internally. Wasn't impressed as I was initially told I could pay by debit card. They were fairly quick in sorting it out though when they'd got back in the office the following Monday. >> Looks like there is something on the routing problems here: >> http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/showthreaded.php?Board=entanet&Number=3544704 >> > > Enta did post that they were upgrading a router in Telehouse Metro on > http://noc.enta.net/ but I guess it didn't work out quite as planned... > > > Ahh these things happen I guess.
