These devices are built around a "MIPS-like" CPU which (being non-x86) there is no flash for. You could potentially port apps over from another machine by cross compiling but as I understand it there are some quirks about the CPU which make it almost a MIPS but not quite. Nice thing to play with (for a geek) but not (IMO) something that your average teenager would want.
