looks like the model David McKay used for this little experiment on phone chargers http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/sustainable/charger/
Yep - looks the same.
I'm getting one as I've wondered for ages about the standby consumption of our various appliances
I was surprised at some stuff in my home/office when I got it. TV - 4W on standby. Sky box (basic one nothing fancy) 4W in-use, 4W standby. (Huh?) HP colour laser printer - up to 1.5KW when printing, but a staggering 30W when in low-power idle mode - it gets turned off now. The worst offender is my main UPS - it's a 1.5KVA double conversion unit (MGE Pulsar) it wastes about 60W with nothing plugged into it )-:

Would one of the cheap £15 ones from B&Q be up to the job for this sort of thing?Mine came from Maplin and wow - they're on offer for a tenner - buy them now!
