Maybe sometime , I will be there. (Lack of VAT accounting in open software is only reason I still use a MS Windows system) I use an old version of QuickBooks Pro (2004). This keeps record and importantly VAT for three businesses, my own company (set up on retirement to combat underfunded company pension problem), & two charities where I act as treasurer. QuickBooks allows unlimited 'companies' to be set up which is a major advantage over Sage. You can run copies as a sandbox to make sure you enter correctly when learning. If you do not need VAT, then GnuCash works OK. Get the UK chart of accounts. On web site inside BT Yahoo if that is your ISP is 'business builder' which gives a 'free' web based system which correctly does VAT , however it needs and 'company credit card setting up as bank accounts) Its the VAT problem that prevents me changing. PS While drawing invoices inside system for record, I tend to issue invoices/print off or PDF from OpenOffice as a simple spreadsheet using the same invoice number so I have record independent of accounts system.
