It surprised me as well Richard that there hasn't been a load of reaction to this. Maybe it's because it's a long blog and people are busy. A cracking summary of the hd/blue-ray battle but it's the background that is fascinating. The concept of a loose consortium of companies chipping away at Microsoft's dominance was one I hadn't considered but it makes perfect sense, as long as they don't get pulled up themselves for anti competitive behaviour. This, I think, is what is going to swing the balance to free software and thus to Linux and to a whole lot of improvement and innovation. It could gather momentum very quickly.
