--- Begin Message ---Here is an interesting paper from Sandia National Labs in the US. This certainly is a fine example of the use(s) of Linux in a high performance computing environment, and their cost model supports Linux + Open Source (vs proprietary).

This report might not be detailed enough to convince your senior management in your environment. But any sort of study adds to the case in general. And this is not coming from a trade magazine or IT consulting house with potentially conflicting interests.Upon reflection there are many details and assumptions not fully described about "maintenance costs" of proprietary vs Linux based systems, and I would love to chat with some of the authors about the real details.http://www.sandia.gov/NNSA/ASC/pdfs/ASC-TCO-06.pdf -- This message came to you via the Vancouver Linux Users Group mailing list.
