Hi folks, I thought I'd share this with you all... At the moment SVP are giving away a free Maxell BallCam webcam free when you spend over £30 with them. We've just put in a big order at work so I thought we'd get one since they were free. Anyway, I picked up the camera today and I thought I'd give it a try on my laptop running Ubuntu 7.10. Ubuntu detected it straight away and within seconds I was viewing myself on Ekiga (not a pretty sight, but anyway...). You can find the camera here: http://svp.co.uk/product/maxell_ballcam_usb_webcam_44205 I'm not sure how long the offer is on for but if you spend over £30 and add this camera to your basket then you get it free (it's £18 normally). It comes with an ear clip headset too which has standard 3.5mm jack plugs (one green, one pink) for microphone input and headphone output on your sound card. Didn't think it was too bad. Oh, and another offer SVP are doing at the moment is if you live in an area where your postcode starts with EX, PL or TQ you can get next delivery for £1.99 when you spend over £20. Just enter the coupon code local199. I was quite impressed with the camera, the quality is pretty good, I'm half tempted to get one for myself. It looks like it uses the gspca driver. I'm running kernel 2.6.22-14-generic if it helps. Rob -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
