If it's a choice between conspiracy and cockup, choose cockup :) What bonehead would sell a 240V only device with a 2 pin plug?[1] Apart from anything you *could* argue it was not fit for purpose under the Supply of Goods and Services Act since it cannot be used without the correct plug.
