I have just looked up the Demon Internet limits for a home office account. I have downloaded several distros over the last few weeks with no problems. The theoretical bandwidth is 8MB/s but at the end of a long country line, I am lucky to get a steady 240Mb/s at best. I have *never* had problems with Demon and they *always* answer phone calls and are very helpful, though on occasion the Indian voice is a little difficult to understand or get clear on my problem (permissions on web pages once). Emails take a day or two. The restrictions below do not apply to business customers. "THUS will continually measure the performance of our broadband network and take steps to restrict the download speeds of very heavy users during peak periods, should their activities significantly contribute towards the risk of reduced speeds being experienced by the majority of our broadband customers. The peak period is currently 9am to 11pm. The peak period may be subject to change dependent on usage patterns across the network. All users will be monitored on a continuous basis. Only customers that consistently download exceptionally large amounts of data over a rolling 30 day period will be affected by the THUS FUP. This is currently defined as per the limits detailed below, although THUS reserves the right to amend these limits. Permitted data download over rolling period of 30 consecutive days * Home 8000 - 50GB of total data download. (£17.99/m +VAT) * HomeOffice 8000 - 60GB of total data download."(£22.99/m +VAT includes homepages) -- james kilty http://www.kilty.demon.co.uk -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
