Posted by "John Hansen" <john.hansen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> I wonder if it is possible to establish how much local governments in Devon and Cornwall spend annually on Microsoft products and licenses. In the schools and libraries here in North Cornwall there seems to be an assumption that computers can only work with Windows. I tried to get some Linux training at the local Learning Centre but was told that they only taught the use of Windows and other MS products. The idea of teaching Linux seemed to horrify the lady in charge. Has D&C GLUG tried to approach the politicians about the potential cost savings from changing to Open Source?
