You are correct. The entire DCGLUG wiki is equivalent to chmod 664 - all members are equal (although Simon and I have direct access to the SQL database so are a tad more equal than others but hacking a wiki in SQL is such a horrid task that it really makes no odds). All members have full read-write privileges in the wiki once logged in. All visitors (including members who are not logged in) have only read privileges. Activities of members are logged and are directly attributable to the login so abuses/changes can be uniquely identified. ;-) > Just taken a look at the DCGLUG site, I was wondering, could we have > maybe a New Users Start Here link or something along those lines? Any member can add any page to the wiki - however visitors will not be given write access, even (especially) to a "new starter" page. We do not have the resources to combat that much spam. > Something that anyone new to Linux who has just moved over, or someone > who is interested in finding out more about Linux can click on and then > get information on how to get started? Feel free to update the existing information, reorganise it, add to it and extend it into new pages. Just keep it sane, polite and related to GNU/Linux in some way. No rants against Win-whatever or MS or anything else - criticism, yes; rants no. Remember that all Wiki content is PUBLIC, even though it can only be edited by members. Think carefully before you enter personal details, e.g. in descriptions of meetings. The Members Register is only viewable by DCGLUG members and is intended to provide a record of member personal details away from prying eyes and search engines. (The Location Map is ever so slightly randomised for these reasons.) The views expressed in any part of the wiki are not necessarily those of the GLUG. http://www.dcglug.org.uk/wiki/?id=WikiHowto http://www.dcglug.org.uk/wiki/?id=CreatePages http://www.dcglug.org.uk/wiki/?id=NewestPages http://www.dcglug.org.uk/wiki/?id=UpdatedPages -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.data-freedom.org/ http://www.nosoftwarepatents.com/ http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/
