Thanks Jonathan and Martijn, I'll check all this out. On the subject of flash, I noticed that there is now a kde flash editor: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=23696 ...I use GNOME, but hopefully it will work when I get around to trying it. I was making the odd flash game and animation for artist amusement (not for website content), which I think is also a valid use for it. But I was doing it on windows with some shareware software, and because I switched to linux I didn't think it was worth buying the full version once the free trial ran out. Its good to see open source efforts turning to more trivial and specialist software, I think its a sign we've really got somewhere with the core stuff... :) Anton Martijn wrote: >> So what I was thinking, since I don't think >> bandwidth is really an issue with my current >> hosting deal, was maybe if there was some >> cms that allows him to just host it locally? >> Maybe even a wordpress module or something? >> >> And if bandwidth does become an issue, anyone >> know of somewhere to host that doesn't have >> the same tos problems as murdochspace? > > There are lots of options out there, and if you've got the time to, > you'd best go have a look at all the plugins that are available here: > http://wp-plugins.net/?filter=mp3 > > This one seems quite nice: > http://www.1pixelout.net/code/audio-player-wordpress-plugin/ It uses > flash, but I think this is one of the few cases where flash is > actually useful. > > Martijn. > Jonathan Roberts wrote: > Hey, look at podpress, a wordpress plugin :D > > http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mightyseek.com%2Fpodpress%2F&ei=3kCLRrOZBZ76QYLAhMkM&usg=AFQjCNHwZXCrYyjc3yscIQHyErP1XOLnUA&sig2=Iwc7YG5v8cyHHYWgNTQqzg > > I've never actually used it myself, but I think it will be exactly > what you're looking for. > > Also, consider http://www.instinct.co.nz/e-commerce, which is a great > e-commerce plugin and might have a downloads option too, though I > can't remember exactly. > > Hope this helps, > > Jon > -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
