You could run the vncviewer on the remote system with the shared desktop using X forwarding, but I think the whole point of vnc was that it was faster than X forwarding, though I could be wrong. If there is a better way I would like to hear about it, though thinking about it if you want it to go over ssh I guess the only way would be to either use X forwarding or forward the right port (whatever it might be).
