He's got vista installed and wants to dual boot with ubuntu - infact
he's got ubuntu installed as well. The problem is the dual boot. Vista

sudo cp /boot/grub/menu.lst /boot/grub/menu.lst_bk
sudo nano /boot/grub/menu.lst

title Windows Vista
root (hd1,1)
makeactive
chainloader +1

But when he reboots and selects vista complains about missing boot
loader...any suggestions?

If installed following linux, windows' bootloader has to be on hda for some reason...
