After starting the day thinking I would never get the advent thing booting, I have ended up with a working Kubuntu install and an advent with windows xp still on it. Basically I discovered the reason why another computer I had wasn't working was a failed brand new Maxtor hard drive! The power supply was also showing an intermitant fault. Replaced that - found an 80 gig sata drive that I knew had Kubuntu on it and guess what. Booted up no problems despite it being a different motherboard, processor, memory, monitor, etc! So the advent stays as a doze box for testing purposes and I now have a Linux box that will eventually run as a file server. Once again huge thanks to all for the response. -- Rich http://www.cregy.co.uk Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.
