After starting the thread on Ubuntu and freedom I just thought I'd share with everyone the possible irony(?) that I've just installed openSuse 10.2... Although, as far as I'm aware the agreement doesn't infringe the GPL or admit Microsoft has an IP claim against GNU/Linux. Maybe I'm being naive? Beyond that they've taken the same approach to non-free stuff as Debian, and it's available in a separate repository and clearly labelled as "Proprietary" during installation. I have to say though I'm pretty impressed with the system so far: install took a bit longer than I'm used to and a few of the defaults are a bit strange, but these are easy to change! I love the new Gnome menu that they've got on here too - integrated beagle search and easy access to the Gnome control centre give it a really nice feel :-) Maybe I'll even add a review to the wiki!! This is the first time I've used a distro and felt quite so enthused about it! Now, off to gnome-look.org to find some good icons....
