Ledbury Park Vets use Unix for their server, running a proprietary veterinary software, it's called Verifac I think, and Windows on the vet's PCs. I had assumed that Derek would not consider moving to a different OS on the PCs and I was hoping to get him to switch to OOo as a step towards an eventual FLOSS solution for the practice. Derek already spends a lot of time as an IT manager instead of operating on animals and although a FLOSS setup would have a lower TCO in the end there would be a lot of learning to do first. I'd like him to ditch SCO Unix, which Verifac runs on, for Linux but I am a bit nervous about having to support the practice IT in Ledbury from where I live in Somerset. I will mail him forthwith with your suggestion.
