After a bit of googling it seems this is a (well) known problem with nvidia drivers. A nvidia spokesperson says (back in July) it will be fixed in the next release, the first 9 point something. Well that's here now and I've downloaded it. Will give installation a try after I've backed up everything and found the kubuntu install disc. Light blue touch paper and .........
