I've found in the past a generic kernel seems to boot on most hardware - for instance I moved my old mail server to a VMWare virtual machine and it just worked. IIRC someone else has said that it may cause major problems. How I see it, if the current server is still working why not try making a backup (try booting from a Knoppix CD, or even a SysRescueCD, mount the partitions and tar them up and then make the partitions on the virtual PC, mount the partitions and then restore the tar file). Hope this makes sense. Rob -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
