Hi When I try and run apt-get update I get a lot of errors. Err http://kanotix.com sid/main Packages 302 Redirect Ign http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/non-free Packages
Check the kanotix website - it looks like you need to update your kanotix source. It's redirecting to one of the debian mirrors so it may be that kanotix don't want to run their own independent mirror anymore.
my sources.list seems rather small so i am guess this is part the problem deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
You probably want a closer mirror. Try one of these: * ftp.us.debian.org/debian * http.us.debian.org/debian * ftp.debian.org/debian * ftp.egr.msu.edu/debian * mirrors.kernel.org/debian * archive.progeny.com/debian * debian.crosslink.net/debian * ftp-mirror.internap.com/pub/debian * ftp.cerias.purdue.edu/pub/os/debian * ftp.lug.udel.edu/debian * debian.lcs.mit.edu/debian * debian.teleglobe.net * debian.rutgers.edu * debian.oregonstate.edu/debian(To get this list, view any Debian package and click on your architecture.)
e.g. http://packages.debian.org/unstable/utils/pilot-qof scroll down to "Download ..." and click on i386 or amd64 etc.
# Kanotix deb http://kanotix.com/files/debian sid main contrib non-free deb-src http://kanotix.com/files/debian sid main contrib non-free
These lines are the ones that need to be replaced or removed - depending on what kanotix have done.
can i just download a new vesion of this file, that fixes the errors.
Edit it yourself (using sudo). $ sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list & $ sudo apt-get update or # vi /etc/apt/sources.list # apt-get update -- Neil Williams ============= http://www.data-freedom.org/ http://www.nosoftwarepatents.com/ http://www.linux.codehelp.co.uk/
