I haven't got a breakout board myself but as far as I can tell with it a GP2X is just like a Linux PC. Mine had an intermittent hardware fault and stopped working recently (I attribute this to it being a first edition) but my boyfriend's one has been working happily and the later firmware comes with other goodies too like a web server. I like it enough that I'm thinking about getting a later edition one.
