The BBC is trialing "Vodcasting", downloadable crap-quality video that's supposed to be in an open format. I've experimented a little with the downloads from www.bbc.co.uk/newspodcasts, using 1) Totem 1.0.5 (a xine-lib 1.0.1 frontend) 2) Latest ffmpeg, downloaded last night from svn (SVN-r5830), including libavutil 49.0.0, libavcodec 51.10.0 and libavformat 50.5.0 I've had a few problems, and was hoping that others could confirm/deny these so I can complain to the right people and see if something can be done. 1) Full download Works fine in totem, video and auto Latest ffmpeg reports 4 streams, 0.0 Video mpeg4 0.1 Audio mp4a 0.2 Data: mp4s 0.3 Data: mp4s However it claims that the audio is unsupported. The same story on older versions of ffmpeg. My ffmpeg claims to decode the aac file format, however it can't cope with this codec. 2) Partial download Won't play in totem at all, nor will it play in quicktime on my windows machine at work. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
