We only supplied/supported IE4 when Windows 98 was launched and we realised M$ had dealt us one from the bottom of the pack, to whit; support IE or all the new customers with new PCs will go to someone who does. I attended a training session in M$ HQ in Reading. The trainer told us IE4 was unbreakable, about 30 seconds before one of my colleagues managed to break it. In 1998 M$ were playing catchup with Netscape. By nailing the browser to Windows 98 they overtook Netscape, and now at last there is decent competition to them in Mozilla Firefox.
