It was only afterwards that I started to wonder what they actually meant, and then realised that it was pointless anyway (no funding and way too soon). Unfortunately my own manager was not impressed by this sort of thing at all (wasting time on something that may never happen etc etc), and let the other person know. As such I'd rather not ask them - I should have done so at the time I was asked I guess. Office politics and all that.
