I went from Intel to AMD and needed to do a full reinstall, but AMD to AMD(32) was fine. 32-64 bit it may not like. Your best bet would be: The very last time you run Windows remove ALL the motherboard related hardware in Device Manager. A customer of mine once did that by mistake - totally ignored my explicit instructions and removed the whole Local Machine/Current Control Set branch from the registry. Then the cheeky burger tried to blame me for his stupidity. Anyway the upshot is that Windows didn't crash but started detecting all his motherboard components when he rebooted. I'm *not* recommending that as a course of action, but if you're resigned to reinstalling anyway I can't see that it would hurt. The main problem seems to be Windows breaking when it can't find the motherboard it thinks is there. My theory is that if you *don't tell* Windows what is there it'll go looking and might not break.
