I had been having problems getting exim4 (on debian etch) to send emails to my isp on any port except 25 ..... Finally discovered today that it helps to allow the firewall to use the port In case anyone else wants to send email using exim4 as a client to a specific port: 1/ Make sure your firewall allows it 2/ vim exim4.conf.template (/etc/exim4/) 3/ Amend lines 1410 and 1428 (smarthost transport) and after the line driver = smtp add port = ### where # is the number of the port you want to send to 4/ Save and then enter "update-exim4.conf" (if anyone wants to comment, thanks in advance) Henry
