The mobo (socket 939) has a power header separate from the main one. I read this in the manual but I didn't realise I had to use it. The manual tells you it supplies power to the CPU so it was entirely my mistake -- I can only claim that at the end of the secion on installing the CPU you get this 4. put the CPU fan on and buckle it. Connect the CPU fan power cable to JCFAN1. This completes the installation. Nothing about JATXPWR1. So it goes. I've got a DVD writer and 2 fierce Barracuda disks and I am all ready to start partitioning. Then on to Debian, KDE and beyond ,..
