On the face of it the BIOS is OS independent, and a few people (from Google) seem to have the same problem with Win2K, Suse, etc.. so it's not a Mandrake issue per se. A possible explanation is here: http://www.computing.net/linux/wwwboard/forum/28530.html It seems that if the bootloader is 'too far' into the disk the BIOS can't find it. I always install it to the MBR of the first partition so that's likely to be why I've never seen this error. HTH!
