A lot of users do feel intimidated by command lines etc, but personaly i find them in many cases simpler to use and to the point. I do quite a bit of programming in "that other os" and i will *very* often try stuff out in a console application (as a c program) rather than spending time building a gui. Often these programs end up as hardware test apps or calibration programs but they stay as console applications. Some times the console app turns in to a dll and then gets called by a gui app. I do understand the point however you are making. Surely a good way is to have a powerful command line app and a graphical front end (as many projects do) this keeps eveyone happy. Robin
