Hi The saga continues, however on a more practical level, if a potential Linux user, having purchased a "proper" version direct from MandrakeSoft (that's the name on the invoice) (for £60.00 -don't ask me!-) had had my experiences he would be straight back in the windows camp slagging Linux. I really believe that without "insider" knowledge one could not get the installation to update. (Basically one must download an update from the Mandriva Site to get the updates to work (and even these have bad signatures which could explain a lot), and there are no pointers any where on the documentation (that I can find) pointing to Maddriva. (That was a typo, but I left it). I am quite serious, Mandrake is often billed as the most user friendly distro, this sort of thing it is not helping break the windows monopoly. The really annoying thing is the distro on my other box, which came off the back of a cornflake packet, works fine. (Why did I buy the other, well when I loaded it onto this machine I got the bad architecture thing when I attempted to download updates !!?? and in anycase I wanted to support them:( This would make more sense over a beer, or a lot of Beer!
