When you issues the "ping walnut" command it will first try to look up the address in the your hosts file, and in this case it is matching the IP 192.168.0.3. If you want "walnut" to point to your network card at eth0 you will need to replace 192.168.0.3 with the IP address for eth0 as shown from "ifconfig" - in your case 192.168.0.167. You would then need to reload your network. However I'm not sure where the domain "walnut.mshome.net" is coming from? Maybe there is some IPv6 magic going on here, which is beyond my scope of knowledge -limted though it is! Anyone else got some thoughts? Also, from your ifconfig output - eth1 appears to be down -is that what you intended or do you want that back up? Charlie
