He he, okay, i know i shouldn't reply to my own posts, but... I've just spent HOURS getting a few things working and guess what? The 2005.0 install CDs and (hopefully, just checking) live CDs have now appeared on the mirrors - they weren't there earlier, honest guv!! SO, ignore my request. Ta, Martin. Don't suppose anyone has any 2005.0 CDs i could buy a copy of do they?? AMD64 version. I've had a REALLY tortuous few days getting my new system up and running. It IS now working but i first decided i'd try KDE3.4, which did work but i couldn't get the sound working so i went back down to KDE3.3.2 this evening. I've got it back but i noticed that despite me doing an "emerge --unmerge" on all the relevent kde3.4 packages all the bins are still there. It's not unsurmountable but my system is now in a bit of a mess and it'd be easier to just start again to try and unhose it. Thing is, there's no way on earth i want to torture myself that badly as to go through the 2004.3 install CDs again. Problem was that the kernels and drivers that they chose on there are very broke for my pretty new hardware and it was a LOT of hassle getting the install done. 2005.0 is already out on CD and imminent on download. If noone has it i can wait but i could really do with getting the big swap around of machines completed here ASAP!
