[LUG] Disabling services
I'm unsure which services to disable on my Debian system.
I'm using a stand-alone system ie. Internet browsing, email etc
but offering no network services.
netstat tap > listening.services reveals the following:
Active Internet connections (servers and established)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address
State PID/Program name
tcp 0 0 *:bootpc *:*
LISTEN 15716/pump
tcp 0 0 *:netbios-ssn *:*
LISTEN 2535/smbd
tcp 0 0 *:sunrpc *:*
LISTEN 1581/portmap
tcp 0 0 *:www *:*
LISTEN 1965/caudium
tcp 0 0 *:domain *:*
LISTEN 1859/dnsmasq
tcp 0 0 *:ipp *:*
LISTEN 1967/cupsd
tcp 0 0 *:22202 *:*
LISTEN 1965/caudium
tcp 0 0 *:microsoft-ds *:*
LISTEN 2535/smbd
tcp 0 0 *:7741 *:*
LISTEN 2022/lisa
tcp 0 0 victoria:33119 victoria:sunrpc
TIME_WAIT -
tcp6 0 0 *:domain *:*
LISTEN 1859/dnsmasq
tcp6 0 0 *:ssh *:*
LISTEN 2543/sshd
IMHO I certainly don't need /caudium (web server) nor the sunrpc one.
Could someone advise me RE the others please?
Keith
