[LUG] Thunderbird- Account sharing

i have tryed following the tutorial on
http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.phtml?title=Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Changing_Profile_Folder_Location

so i can move my thundrbird profile to z:/email under windows, with
the aim of having it shared with linux when i get round to installing
debian, or FD3 (currently thinking Debian)

but the problem is even after channging all the links thunderbird
still dies on me, does any one have any ideas?
