Thanks for the offer,after reading the list of missing packages I 
googled the exact package name and downloaded what I needed. All I need 
to do now is find out how to get hylafax to run.Typing hylafax into the 
run box or a terminal does nothing.must be a command line app.
I'm just searching now for the documentation.
