Call me cynical, but putting Debian on SparcStations is pretty
minority activity. Solaris may not be free software (yet!), but I
don't see people paying for new certified hardware throwing it out
just yet.

We use to reprogram the SUN Openboot stuff, it was vaguely forth
like language as I recall.

But the poverty of the BIOS is why I think the novel Debian install
methods are of interest. Okay it is not quite interrupt boot and
type "net boot install", but it is getting close.

Damn did I forget to include FAI in my list of things I want to try.....
