Of course it is possible packages get renamed in new versions and such like, but looks like it is 4.3 or 4.1
As Matt says 4.4 has a new license 4.3.99 is the old licence (which I think is available as a Deb somewhere.... kick me if it matters).
I don't think the licensing issues are that "big" in my reading of the licence, and comments made. All parties seem to want it to be GPL compatible. I guess the question is will they reword it to satisfy the FSF - the issue seems to be over crediting the software appropriately.
Anyone know what X.org are upto these days, as the original comments in the Debian list were to move to X.org (a fork of Xfree86 with some big companies behind it).
