Hi All, No doubt you remember my somewhat abortive attempt to get NFS working with the names of the machines involved not IP addresses. Unfortunately I've dropped a clanger in the process and I wondered if you could help me sort it out? My desktop (natalie) dualboots XP and MDK10. No problem there. My laptop (geri) dualboots Win2K and MDK10. No problem there. However. If I boot both machines to Windows the network behaves. If I boot the laptop to MDK10 the network behaves. If I boot the *desktop* to MDK10 all hell breaks loose. The laptop (in Windows) reports that another machine is trying to occupy the same IP address. The router supplies DHCP IP addresses in the format 192.168.1.* and when both are in Windows they get .2 and .3 (.1 is reserved for the web based router config). However, in MDK10 the desktop seems to try and grab .2 AND .3, and I have no idea what I've done to make that happen. It seems to want .2 and has a mare if the laptop already has it. I do recall in the dim past using the command ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.2 however I have since tried to amend that to 192.168.1.3 and it still tries to grab .2 as well as .3 Suggestions gratefully received :) Kind regards, Julian PS: Sorry Alex! I know I've done that twice in as many days! I'll try not to make a habit of it! --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
