First rule in the Debian way....

There are thousands of packages, and no one knows them all....

So we use "apt-cache search" to find what we want....

Unfortunately there are rather a lot of packages related to CD reading,
playing and such like.

Me I use kscd, because I use KDE as my Window manager, and it was the
first one that I tried.

As you can see various graphical and text based CD players. ncurses is a
text based interface. You probably want something labelled KDE, or GNONE
or X11 unless you like text interfaces....

If it looks confusing type "apt-get install kscd" and see if it works.

The tricky bit in the old Debian install was getting the right "sources"
entries for apt - this is now easy - but I think it is still a separate
step after installation is finished.
