Why boot from floppy? I made ISOs from the Linux Format DVD of MDK 10 and booted with the first install disk. My boot order is FD, CD, HD. If the system doesn't like that change it to boot from CD as the first device. At the end of the day you can always swap it back if it doesn't want to play. Seemed to me to be simpler than making a boot floppy *and* making the CDs to install from. No you shouldn't be changing the BIOS and can always boot from a rescue floppy, check the BIOS before you start and make sure it's set up to boot from floppy (if there is one).
