[LUG] Installing Linux on SATA raid0

I've just built a new system that has SATA raid.
I have set up two Sata hard drives as a raid 0 set.
I have partitioned them up and left an unpartitioned space for SUSE 9.0.
However SUSE reports no hard drives found.
The only drivers for my Sil1440 Sataraid controller I can find are for 64bit SUSE.
Does anyone know if drivers exist for Suse or anyother Distro and at what point of the install do you install them?
I thought at some point of the install I would see an option to install 3rd party drivers as in Winxp.
